Escolinha imperial
Dear Dr. Thomas,
I am immensely honoured to receive an offer from Imperial College. As to the offer conditions, however, I am afraid I find it necessary to clarify the two following issues, which I kindly ask you to consider.
a) With respect to Part III results, what exactly does one understand as "satisfactory"? (e.g., a Pass or other overall mention, particular grades in certain subjects?)
b) I am informed that my decision should reach IC by May the 12th, which unfortunately is impossible, since I will not have heard from all the places I applied to by that date, and even more so because one of the offer conditions, the Part III outcome, will not be available before mid June. I wonder if this requirement really comes from you or just from 'the system'; please instruct me on how to proceed.
Reaffirming my very positive feelings towards the IC group, I thank you in advance.
Yours truly,
Henrique.
Agora olhem só a resposta do cara:
Yes sorry, bloody admin depts, we have little control over them. I believe you have to just pass part iii to satisfy college regulations. And probably ignore May 12th, though we'd like you to accept regardless
of whoever might make you an offer! I'll get the head of pure maths to email you to check all this & confirm.
We're exceedingly keen for you to come. If there's anything we can do to encourage you or persuade you please let me know.
All the best,
Richard.
PS by "accept" they mean in principle, assuming you pass Part III, which
we all know you will. So you don't have to wait for your exam results
for that.
Dear Henrique
I am writing as Head of Pure Mathematics at Imperial. Richard Thomas has forwarded a message from you asking a couple of questions about our offer. Let me try to answer them as best I can. (...) obviously the sooner you can let us know if you want to accept our offer, the better.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.
Best wishes
Martin Liebeck
